Tea is a beverage made by pouring hot or boiling water over leaves of the Camellia sinensis shrub. After water, tea is the most widely consumed drink in the world.
We estimate that 6.4 million cups of tea are consumed per day in the
UAE.
There are many different types of tea and they can be categorised as Black tea, Oolong tea, White tea, Yellow tea and Green tea. Herbal tea and Fruit tea (also called Tisane) are not actually tea in the true sense because they do not contain leaves from the Camellia Sinensis bush. Instead, they are infusions.
Tea has many different profiles, a bit like fine wine, it depends on where the tea is grown, the growing conditions, soil, climate, and altitude – this all makes a huge difference to the quality of a tea.
On top of this, the process that the leaves go through and the skill of the people working the leaves will affect the tea's taste.
For example, Chinese greens and Darjeeling, have a cooling, slightly bitter, and astringent flavour, while others have sweet, nutty, floral, or
grassy notes.
Tea has a stimulating effect in humans primarily due to its caffeine content.
Tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis bush, an evergreen shrub native to China and East Asia. Tea usually grows in warm, wet climates. Large quantities are grown in India, China, Sri Lanka and Kenya but this is by no means an exhaustive list: tea can be grown in any area with the right climate and conditions. There is even a tea-growing area in Scotland, UK!
If you’re asking, we think BRW Society tea! BRW Society is tea like you've never experienced before, incredibly delicious, colourful, and unique.
BRW Society has hundreds of high-quality, feel-good tea flavours at your fingertips delivered right to your doorstep.
Herbal ‘tea’ and fruit ‘tea’ are not really ‘tea’ because they do not contain any leaves from the Camellia Sinensis, also called the tea bush. Herbal and fruit teas are infusions.
Growing conditions, soil, climate and altitude all make a big difference to the quality of a tea. In addition the process that the leaves go through, and the skill of the people involved, will ultimately decide a tea's taste.
Beverages that contain caffeine are considered a diuretic - the effect depends on how much caffeine is consumed.
For best results, store your tea in airtight containers and keep them away from direct sunlight.
BRW Society teabags cost on average 2AED per cup - our teas maybe a little more expensive than other big brands on the supermarket aisle but we deliver an exquisite taste of the finest teas from around the world, wrapped up in eco-friendly, plastic free packaging – we cannot do this for less than 2 AED per cup.
Tea leaves from Camellia Sinensis contain higher concentrations of caffeine
than coffee beans. However, the brewing process affects the level of caffeine in your cuppa and because of the brewing process coffee contains more caffeine than tea.
Tea contains an amino acid called L-theanine which slows down the absorption of caffeine when you drink it. Great for avoiding those pesky highs and lows associated with drinking coffee.
There are many different types of chai tea, some contain caffeine and some are caffeine-free. Traditionally chai tea has black tea as its base ingredient and therefore contains caffeine. Try BRW Society’s Organic Yoga herbal blend for a caffeine-free alternative.
Yes some do. Tea from the tea plant Camellia Sinensis contain caffeine e.g. black tea, green tea, oolong tea and white tea.
We don’t like it!
That’s kinda right, tea does not expire. However, to ensure each sip is delicious we have provided a best before date on each packet .

Flavouring can sound unnatural, but there are no nasties hiding in your tea! BRW Society use only natural flavourings in some of our tea blends.
Please consult with your medical professional about drinking teas or infusions during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding.
We recommend avoiding excessive consumption of tea containing liquorice root and this is because studies have shown it has the potential to increase blood pressure and decrease potassium levels. Please consult with your medical professional if you need further assistance.
We work with factories in the UAE that also produce teas for other brands.
Some of these other brands have blends that contain nuts. We wanted to do the right thing and make you aware of this.
Peppermint tea is delicious, it is popular due to its clean, pleasant smell and taste.
Drinking peppermint tea can help freshen a person’s breath, and it may also have other benefits for fighting bad breath.
